S9 line to Dworzec Zachodni
The residents of Białołęka, Legionowo and Wieliszew will be able to get to Dworzec Zachodni more easily from the 9th of September. The route of the SKM S9 line will be extended to Warszawa Zachodnia.
The S9 line trains will end their route at Dworzec Gdański. They will run to the 8th platform of Dworzec Zachodni (Warszawa Wola). They will stop at such stations as Warszawa Koło and Warszawa Kasprzaka which seem to be popular among passengers . Currently, the residents from Legionowo can only commute by Koleje Mazowieckie trains.
Polskie Linie Kolejowe created an automatic block signaling which enabled the extension of the line S9 to Warszawa Zachodnia. It improves safety and allows the trains that go in the same direction to run more frequently, even every few minutes. Before the block was introduced, intervals between trains were of at least a few minutes. As a result it was impossible to create a convenient timetable for S9 line, which would be coordinated with the KM timetable.
The extension is also possible due to the increase in the number of SKM vehicles. It is worth reminding that four new 35WE trains produced by Newagu appeared in Warsaw. As a result S9 line will not devalue the offer of other SKM lines.
